The Swiss Association for Digital Insurance (VDVS) supports the e-ID law.
On March 7, 2021, Switzerland will hold a referendum on the e-ID law. The Federal Act on Recognized Electronic Identification Units (e-ID Act) aims to establish the framework for the recognition of electronic identification methods and their providers. The Swiss Digital Insurance Association advocates for the swift implementation of the e-ID and the adoption of the e-ID Act.

Like the federal government, the association also recognizes that increasing digitalization necessitates a change in the online identification process. Currently, everyday identification is secure using a passport or identity card, but this is hardly feasible online. It is particularly important to support the further development of online businesses and e-government applications by implementing a clear legal framework. A state-recognized electronic identification method would be a significant contribution to promoting existing and new digital business models. The e-ID presents a major opportunity for all Swiss companies and their digitalization strategies, and it offers customers greater autonomy and faster, more flexible service processing. Furthermore, an e-ID reduces the risk of misuse and enhances data protection. "Our digitally savvy customers will appreciate the e-ID solution, and for everyone else, it remains voluntary. This makes it a win-win situation for both customers and businesses," says Pierangelo Campopiano, President of the VDVS (Association of Swiss Digital Providers). For these reasons, the Swiss Digital Insurance Association is in favor of the fastest possible introduction of the e-ID and the adoption of the e-ID law on March 7, 2021.
